What is Rolfing?

Rolfing is a manual therapy aiming at improving a person's posture. The therapist, rolfer, will be looking for places in the client's anatomy where there is excessive holding, where the weight does not "fall". Fascia is the main structure of focus, but muscles, bones and skin may need to be addressed.

Freeing those tight spots allows the body to align closer to its vertical axis. With an improved posture, the person experiences greater physical and mental tranquility.

Ida Rolf, the founder of the discipline, noticed that over time and dealing with life's challenges, it is common to loose our natural alignment. Away from our central axis, a mechanic of tension and compensation occurs and brings physical and emotional stress.

Rolfing is looking to prevent or correct these imbalances, allowing the body to regain the integrity of its natural form.

Who can benefit from Rolfing?

Your struggle with back pain, frozen shoulder, migraines

tight jawanxiety. You would like to move gracefully, improve your posture and breathe freely. You practice sport, yoga or dance and would like to improve your performance.

Rolfing, whilst reorganizing the fascial web and developing body awareness, is able to alleviate pain and frees you of

unnecessary tension. Looking at harmonizing the body as a whole, you will find economy and efficiency in your

movements, vitality and an improved overal well being.

Biography

I was born in annecy, in the french Alps. As a child, a restless energy allows me to engage with a lot of sports. At seventeen, following a friend I accidentally land in a dance class. The atmosphere, the physical challenges, the beauty, I was immediately hooked. I then decide to quit my academical studies and go into full time training. Three years later, I was offered my first dancing professional contract.

For the following 20 years, I have been fortunate to dance professionally, all around the world, working with incredible artists.

Two days after the birth of my first son, aged 41, I quit performing. Looking at a more sedentary life style, I start teaching ballet.

Teaching dance, I noticed that I was able to help my students be better dancers, but more importantly, I was also able to help them be more confident, more at ease with themselves, more graceful... more happy! The relationship between posture, movement and the person we are fascinated me. To deepen my understanding of movement and its mechanics, I decided to begin a Rolfing training, a discipline that had helped me so much when I was dancing. Once the training completed, I realized that Rolfing had totally won me over. I stopped teaching dance and opened my first practice.
